The four waves of AI, and where the jobs are now
Predictive, generative, agentic, physical. Each wave added a new engineering role. Here is what each one hires for and how the RoboEdify courses map onto them.
The short version
Predictive AI built the data-science role: features, models, evaluation, deployment. Generative AI added prompt and retrieval engineering. Agentic AI added orchestration, tools and guardrails. Physical AI adds perception and control in the real world.
Hiring follows the same order. Predictive roles are the largest pool and the most competitive. Agentic roles are newer and reward people who can show a working system with evaluation, not a notebook.
